Le Groupe TRAQ
(Transport sur rail au Québec)
Qui sommes-nous ?
Formé en 1987 par des employés du CN (Canadien National), le Comité d’actions des employés du CN de Québec (CAECNQ) et ses 500 membres à l’époque, avait pour but principal de sauver des emplois au chemin de fer. Il a en ces temps été le précurseur incontesté du CFILINQ, de l’ULTRATRAIN et de plusieurs nouveaux CFILs au Québec.
Par la suite en 1990 et lorsque le CN a terminé ses coupures, le groupe a changé son nom pour devenir la CMUAR (Coalition pour le maintien et l’utilisation accrus du rail). Il s’est activé surtout à la sauvegarde de la voie ferrée entre Charny et Harlaka et a présenté 11,827 signatures à Ottawa.
Le siège social du Groupe TRAQ est situé dans l’arrondissement Charny de la ville de Lévis. Le Groupe porte le nom actuel seulement depuis l’an 2000 et s’est donné pour mission :
a) de promouvoir l’utilisation et le développement du transport ferroviaire ;
b) de promouvoir la sécurité de l’exploitation ferroviaire;
c) d’aider à la conservation de toute infrastructure ferroviaire déjà en place au Québec;
d) de conserver et diffuser tout document ferroviaire pertinent;
e) de publier un bulletin d’information sur les activités ferroviaires, en langue française et se rapportant principalement, au Québec;
f) de conserver précieusement tout matériels, artéfacts et photos ferroviaires, gratuitement reçus ou achetés. Le Groupe TRAQ est une division du Musée ferroviaire canadien (EXPORAIL) et est affilié à Transport 2000 Canada ainsi qu’à Transport 2000 Québec. Le Groupe constitue un apport majeur au Service des arts et de la culture de la ville de Lévis. TRAQ parraine également des démonstrations de trains miniatures « G jardin » et des randonnées de draisines au Québec. Enfin, le Groupe organise un colloque et une exposition ferroviaires annuels pour le Québec avec la collaboration du ministère des Transports du Québec et de Transports Canada.
